For years now I have been sending my pregnant patients to our in-house physiotherapist, Belinda Matthews with fabulous results. I have now included a visit to Belinda as part of our pregnancy package to help women keep active and as painfree as possible during their pregnancy. For more information about this please see my post here.
Belinda has been involved in pilates in Ballarat for years and is now excited to now be able to offer Pre and Post Natal Pilates Classes at the recently opened Re-Vitalise Physio and Pilates. Her first class is June 19th 2018 and bookings are essential. Please go to www.re-vitalise.com.au
From Belinda Matthews
As a physio working in women’s health, I understand the benefits of exercise. Pilates is an ideal exercise form that complements the changes occurring during pregnancy and following delivery. Pilates is low impact and allows for a wide variety of exercises and modifications as both your pregnancy and post natal journey progresses.
Pilates facilitates strengthening of the muscles of your abdomen, pelvic floor and back. Improvements in flexibility, mobility and endurance minimise pregnancy discomforts.
Selecting the correct exercise after your baby is born is important to minimise the risk of long term pelvic floor weakness, pelvic organ prolapse and back pain. Post-natal Pilates is an excellent way to target those muscles most affected by pregnancy and birth. It also increases whole body strength and fitness in preparation for returning to other forms of exercise.
The delightful studio at Re-Vitalise provides a perfect space for small group classes promoting high quality instruction and supervision. Classes are run in 6 week blocks and include mat & ball exercises, pilates reformers and physiotherapy educational bites.
Previous pilates experience is not required. You will be safely guided through your program all along the way to optimise your benefits and help you stay fit and strong throughout your journey.
Please contact Re-Vitalise for bookings and further information.
